IRD ADDS STEVEN J. ANLIAN as DIRECTOR OF INFRASTRUCTURE
Washington, DC —
August 9, 2007 — IRD today announced the addition of Steven J. Anlian as Director of Infrastructure. Mr. Anlian brings to IRD more than 30 years of planning and international development experience.
“I'm excited to have Steve on board,” said Dr. Arthur Keys, president and CEO of IRD. “IRD is continuing to expand its infrastructure capacity, and Steve has exactly the kind of experience at managing large-scale development projects that we need.”
In his new role, Mr. Anlian wil be responsible for managing, developing and expanding IRD's infrastructure portfolio, as well as increasing IRD’s visibility in the donor and partner community. He brings specific expertise in the areas of housing, land and urban development policy, as well as in infrastructure projects in large-scale, mixed-use new communities and commercial centers.
Mr. Anlian joins IRD from the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), where he served as Director of Infrastructure covering countries in Europe, Asia and Africa. Prior to the MCC, Mr. Anlian was a Senior Associate with the Urban Institute, managing development programs in the former Soviet Union for USAID, the World Bank and the U.S. Department of State, among others. He also served as the first USAID Chief of Party with the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) in Armenia and Georgia. Mr. Anlian holds an MPA from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, a BLA (Bachelor of Landscape Architecture) from Syracuse University and a BS in Environmental Sciences from the State University of NY, and is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).
Founded in 1998 by Dr. Arthur B. Keys, Jr., IRD is a charitable, non-profit, non-governmental organization whose mission is to reduce the suffering of the world’s most vulnerable groups and provide tools and resources needed to increase their self-sufficiency.
